HR support for charities: request a free audit

Mark gives his time and advice to charities, including through Cheshire Connect. If your charity needs a fresh look at its people processes or safety paperwork, contact us to request a free audit.

Tell us about your organisation and what you want help with. That might be an HR review, a contract, a handbook, a policy, a risk assessment or a COSHH assessment. We will agree the focus with you and explain the practical next steps.

Choose the most relevant review on the request form and write “Charity audit” in your message. Include the name of your charity and the question you want us to help solve.

Practical support around your charity

People and manager support

Work through contracts, policies, absence, performance and difficult conversations with an adviser who takes time to understand your organisation. We help managers put the next steps into practice.

Health & Safety support

Talk through the risks connected with your premises, activities and events. Get help reviewing assessments, understanding priorities and following up the actions agreed with your team.

Records that are easier to find

Where software would help, use the EPL Hub to organise employee records, documents, training and tasks. We will show you the relevant tools before you choose any software.

Just Drop In: a practical framework for difficult conversations

Through a Cheshire Connect skills match, Mark worked with Chief Officer Ann Wright at Just Drop In, a charity supporting children and young people in Macclesfield and the surrounding area.

Growing demand and complex situations had increased pressure on the team. Mark helped the charity use a Business Model Canvas approach to examine its assertiveness challenge and develop a method it could apply to other organisational issues.

The case study reports greater confidence in difficult conversations, a more consistent approach to assessing and signposting needs, and more contributions from quieter team members. This was hands-on organisational support.

“Mark was knowledgeable, skilled and had boundless enthusiasm and energy in supporting us.”
Ann Wright, Chief Officer, Just Drop In

Advice that starts with listening

Charities often carry a great deal of responsibility with limited time and resources. A standard checklist will not tell the whole story of the people you support, the way your volunteers work or the decisions your managers face.

We start by listening. Then we help you untangle the issue, agree what needs attention and work through the practical steps. Our purpose is to give you time back and help solve the puzzle with you and for you.

Mark’s voluntary work through Cheshire Connect is one way he puts that approach into practice. The free charity audit gives your organisation a straightforward place to start a conversation.

Questions about charity HR support and free audits

Is the charity audit free?

Yes. Contact us to request a free charity audit. Tell us what you would like reviewed so we can agree the focus and the information needed.

What can we ask you to review?

You can ask about an HR review, contract, handbook, policy, risk assessment or COSHH assessment. Explain your main concern when you contact us and we will discuss the best starting point.

Do we need to use the EPL Hub?

No. You can speak to us about advice or a review without choosing software. If keeping records and follow-up together would help, we can show you the Hub separately.

Can you help our managers and volunteers?

Tell us about the people involved and the situation you face. We can discuss manager confidence, communication and people processes, including the different arrangements for employees and volunteers.

How do we request the audit?

Use the review form, choose the closest review type and write “Charity audit” in the message. You can also email sales@epl-hub.com or call 01244 735061.
