Explore employee softwareIreland and Great Britain: key differences for employers
Reviewed 2 October 2026. This overview covers the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain; Northern Ireland has its own framework.
Written employment terms
In Ireland, employers must give new employees the core written terms within five days and the fuller written statement within one month. In Great Britain, the principal statement is due on the first day, with the wider statement within two months. The required content also differs, so use documents prepared for the correct jurisdiction.

Annual leave and public holidays
Most employees in Ireland have a statutory entitlement of four working weeks of paid annual leave, calculated under the applicable rules. Ireland also has ten public holidays, with eligibility and benefit rules that depend on the circumstances. Great Britain generally provides 5.6 weeks of statutory paid holiday, which can include bank holidays. Check working patterns, contracts and local rules before setting leave allowances or importing a holiday calendar.

Safety Statements and workplace risks
Ireland’s Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires hazard identification, risk assessment and a written Safety Statement setting out how workplace safety and health will be managed. It must reflect the actual workplace. In Great Britain, employers must have a health and safety policy and must write it down when they have five or more employees. These are different legal frameworks: agree the documentation and responsibilities for each operation.

The same Hub, with locally appropriate processes
The EPL Hub supports the same core records, documents, onboarding, training and workplace-action workflows. Irish contracts, leave arrangements, public holidays and safety documents still need to be checked and set up for the Irish operation. A software system supports your process; it does not make a UK template suitable for Ireland automatically.
For a cross-border team, bring examples of your locations and work patterns to a demo. We can agree how to organise your records and identify the advice, configuration and specialist input needed.
Irish requirements need an Irish approach
A business operating across Ireland and the UK can use a common management system, but employment documents and safety arrangements need to reflect the jurisdiction in which people work. Begin by identifying the employing entity, work locations, working patterns and the managers responsible for decisions.
Tell us about your Irish workplaces and any UK operations so we can agree the support and specialist input required. We help you connect advice, documents and follow-up, with delivery arrangements agreed for your organisation.
Occupational health support in the Republic of Ireland
Discuss workplace assessments, work-related health concerns and return-to-work planning for your Irish employees. We will agree the assessment question, appropriate practitioner and delivery arrangements before work starts. HR, safety and occupational health should share relevant workplace actions through an agreed process, with confidential health information handled appropriately.
Explore occupational healthSoftware that connects the day-to-day work
The EPL Hub brings employee records, documents, onboarding, training and workplace actions into one connected system. Begin with the information your managers need, agree who keeps it up to date and make the process clear for employees.
Our supported setup covers administrators, managers, employees and a final review. Discuss your existing records and priorities in a demo so we can show the relevant workflows for your organisation.
See how our support works in practice
Our published retail and workplace projects show how advice, manager responsibilities and reliable records can work together. The circumstances of each project matter: we scope support for your Irish operation rather than assume that a policy or process used elsewhere can be transferred unchanged.

Support shaped around your sector
Your working environment matters as much as your location. Explore the sector pages below, then discuss how HR, health and safety, occupational health and software can work together for your team.
Planning support in the Republic of Ireland
How do we get started?
Tell us about your employees, workplaces, current systems and immediate concerns. We will agree the scope, priorities and next steps before work begins.
Can we combine services?
Yes. Discuss HR, health and safety, occupational health and software together, or start with the service you need now. The right arrangement depends on your organisation and the work involved.
How is regional support delivered?
